St. Thomas Volleyball falls in straight sets at Oral Roberts

Tulsa, Okla., - The St. Thomas Volleyball Team fell in straight sets to Oral Roberts by scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-18.
The Tommies dropped the first set by a score of 25-19, despite hitting .259 in the set. Sophomore Ellie Dammann led the offensive effort for St. Thomas with four kills in the opening set. Dammann recorded two assisted blocks in the first set as well, a part of a defensive effort which featured four total blocks.
St. Thomas forced an extended second set and held a 23-21, but ultimately fell by a score of 26-24.
The Tommies were unable to get their offense going in the third set, recording only nine kills on 36 attempts, hitting only .083 in the final set of the game. St. Thomas dropped the set 25-18.
Individually, freshman Lauren Galvin led the offensive efforts with seven kills. Dammann recorded six kills in the match. Defensively, senior Carrie Rutledge led the receiving efforts, she posted a team-high six digs in the match.
St. Thomas finishes its season on the road at Western Illinois next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
