Volleyball closes season with four-set road loss to Western

Freshman Lauren Galvin had 22 kills and surpassed 300 kills on the season, but the host Western Illinois Leathernecks scored a 3-1 defeat of St. Thomas Volleyball in Saturday afternoon's Summit League contest in Macomb, Ill.
Western won 27-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-21.
Grace Anetipa had 39 assists and nine digs for the Tommies (3-25 overall, 2-16 Summit). Galvin closed with 313 kills in 92 sets over 27 matches.
Carrie Rutledge had 26 digs; Fran Egan chipped in four blocks and five kills; Claire Ricard added nine kills; Ellie Dammann had eight kills and four blocks
Coach Thanh Pham was able to use 14 players on Saturday to cap a season where several younger players received playing time.
