St. Thomas Women's Tennis competed Thursday and Friday in Iowa City, Iowa at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional meet.
"I think it was an improvement from our first competition, said head coach Lois Arterberry. "The ladies had an opportunity to compete against some of the best athletes in D1 tennis so getting that experience is priceless. We have a lot to work on for our last month of practice to close the fall season. We will go back to the drawing board and continue to build."
St. Thomas continued action on Friday with sophomore Nicole Snezhko winning a thriller in three sets over Emma Carr from the University of Northern Iowa. After dropping the first set 7-6 (5) she rebounded for a 6-2 win. Snezhko secured the win in the super tiebreaker with a 10-4 victory.
Senior Olivia Paradise competed in the main draw, she fell to Mariana Manyoma Velasquez out of Kansas by scores of 6-3, 6-4 and later in the day fell to Sofia Cabezas from Iowa State, 6-1, 6-1.
Other Tommies in action on Friday included freshman Madeline Bremel, Sophomore Ashley Hatch, freshman Regina Talavera, freshman Abigail Bremel, and sophomore Jannah El Nemr.
