Senior Alexa Dobchuk stopped 26 of 28 shots to help Tommie Women's Hockey skate to a 2-2 overtime tie at St. Cloud State in a series finale Saturday afternoon in St. Cloud.
The Huskies claimed an extra point in the conference standings with a seventh-round goal in the shootout after a scoreless OT and not goals through six rounds.
Coach Joel Johnson's Tommies closed out a four-point weekend to two for SCSU. The Toms moved their season record to 2-3-1 overall (2-3-1 WCHA) on the young season.
Freshman Abby Promersberger scored the tying goal seven minutes into the third period. Senior Anna Solheim, who chipped in two assists in Friday's 3-2 defeat of the Huskies, scored St. Thomas' first goal on a power-play tally. Maddy Clough had two assists.
The Huskies (2-3-1, 0-3-1) outshot St. Thomas 28-26 after posting a 39-17 advantage in shots in Friday's Tommie victory.
Johnson was pleased with the balance his young team showed. The Toms' five weekend goals came from five different players, and both starting goalies were effective against an experienced SCSU team.
The Tommies face Minnesota-Duluth next Saturday and Sunday afternoons on home ice in Mendota Heights.
