Thorp stays hot, Baseball wins fourth of five in Arizona

Senior Josh Thorp continued his torrid start to 2020 with three hits and three RBI to lead a 15-hit attack in Monday's 14-2 win for Tommie Baseball over Park (Arizona). The seven-inning game capped a five-game schedule over four day in Tucson to start the season for St. Thomas
Charlie Bartholomew had three hits, Mathew Enck went 2-for-5. and Chandler Schaefbauer was 2-for-2 with two RBI and a walk.
Jack Schwietz worked three innings and struck out five as he allowed two runs, three hits and four walks. Four Tommie relievers allowed no runs, one hit and four walks with five strikeouts in four innings.
St. Thomas plays two games at U.S. Bank Stadium starting at 7 p.m. next Monday March 9 against UW-La Crosse.
Coach Chris Olean's Tommies closed the trip with a 4-1 record as they hit .391 with an average of eight runs and 11 hits per contest. Thorp had a remarkable 23 totas bases and a 1.095 slug percentage with a home run, four triples and a double while hitting .471 over five games.
