Sophomore Eryn Cooley stopped 21 of 22 shots in net as host St. Thomas Women's Hockey scored a 2-1 win over St. Ben's in Friday night's conference game in Mendota Heights.
The teams play Saturday in St. Cloud (2 p.m.) to close the weekend series.
The Tommies (12-5-3), who remained in a share of second place with Gustavus, secured the program's 20th consecutive MIAC playoff berth and 20th consecutive winning season.
Playing in her 101st career game, senior Rachel Werdin scored the game's first goal 61 seconds into the opening frame, her 41st career goal.
After Estee Frantz scored with 2:08 to go in the first period for a 2-0 Tommie lead, the Bennies answered with their own goal with 61 seconds remaining in the period to trim the lead to 2-1.
Both goalies shut out the opposing team over the final 41:01.
St. Thomas' last nine goals have come from nine different players. The Tommies have posted three shutouts and have nine other games where they've allowed just one goal.
