Bella Wagner scored two goals, including an empty-net tally in the final 10 seconds, as No. 8-ranked UW-River Falls scored a 4-1 women's hockey win over St. Thomas in Wednesday night's non-conference play in Mendota Heights.
The Falcons (17-4-1) outshot St. Thomas 34-19. The teams played to a 2-2 tie 11 weeks earlier in River Falls.
The Tommies (11-5-3) got a second-period power-play goal by Mikayla Kero to tie the score. Senior Rachel Werdin, playing in her 100th career contest, was credited with the assist.
St. Thomas is 1-5-3 this season in games when it scores two or fewer goals, and 10-0 in games when it scores three or more.
The Purple have an MIAC series Friday night (home) and Saturday afternoon (away) against St. Benedict, and need one tie or one win to secure an MIAC playoff berth.
