Can you say Momentum? Men's Hockey soars into title match

Senior Brett Gravelle scored two goals and goalie Henry Baribeau was up to the task with 34 saves as St. Thomas Men's Hockey surprised top-seed St. John's 4-1 Saturday afternoon in St. Cloud.
Coach Jeff Boeser's No. 4-seeded team (14-10-3) has won four games in nine days, including two MIAC playoff wins in three days. The Purple improved to 13-0-3 this season in games when they score three or more goals.
In winning on the Johnnies' home ice for the second time this month, the Toms advance to the March 7 MIAC playoff championship at No. 2-seed Concordia, a 3-2 winner Saturday night in Moorhead over Augsburg.
Baribeau (7-3-1) stopped 34-of 35 shots, losing a shutout on a power-play goal with 28 seconds to go. Baribeau is 5-1-1- in his last seven starts in goal.
Gravelle scored late in period one and midway through period two -- his 49th and 50th career goals in 101 games -- to stake the Purple to a 2-0 lead into the final frame. Jack Christensen and Jack Vincent score goals in the first 7:00 of the third to push the lead to 4-0.
Ten different Tommies had a goal or an assist.
St. John's ended its season at 12-9-5. It had built a 7-1 record in its previous eight games, the lone loss coming Feb, 7 at home to the Tommies.
