St. Thomas Women's Hockey started fast but eventually dropped a 5-4 decision to No. 6-ranked Hamline in conference play Saturday on home ice in Mendota Heights.
The Tommies (12-7-4 overall, 11-4-1 MIAC) erupted for a 3-0 lead after one frame, but Hamline roared back with three second-period goals to tie.
After the Purple took the lead 4-3 in the final period, the Pipers scored the tying and go-ahead goals, the later with just under 4:00 to play in regulation.
Estee Frantz scored two goals\, and Maddy Fiedler and Maija Almich chipped in one goal apiece.
St. Thomas plays Augsburg in two games next weekend. The Toms need a sweep of the third-place Auggies if they hope to jump them for the No. 3 playoff seed.
