Women's Hockey ties Hamline 1-1 in series opener

St. Thomas Women's Hockey scored a 1-1 tie with No. 6-ranked Hamline on Friday night in St. Paul in the first of two weekend MIAC games. The teams play again Saturday (2 p.m.) in Mendota Heights.
Maddy Fiedler scored a first-period goal for the Tommies (12-6-4 overall, 15-3-4 MIAC). The Pipers, who outshot the Toms 36-16, tied the game with a goal early in the third period. Hamline came into the game averaging 6.5 goals per game.
Just three points separate the top four MIAC teams with three conference games to play in the regular season: Gustavus (26), Hamline (25), Augsburg (24) and St. Thomas (23).
