Tommie Women's Hockey used goals from seven different players in Saturday's 7-1 win at St. Catherine to close out an MIAC weekend sweep.
The win for St. Thomas (11-9-4 overall, 10-2 MIAC) let it pull into a tie for second place in the conference with Gustavus, a 5-3 home loser Saturday to Hamline. The Pipers have 21 points, one ahead of the Gusties and Toms with six league games to go in the regular season, including a Hamline vs. St. Thomas series.
Alyssa Wallace recorded three assists, Maddy Fiedler scored a goal and chipped in two assists, and Maija Almich was credited with two assists.
Mikayla Kero and Sarah Moy scored in an early span of 2:51 on the clock for a fast 2-0 lead. After a Wildcat goal, Alli Monrean and Anna Solheim scored in a 1:21 span to push the Purple lead to 4-1. Fiedler and Kate Winiecki scored second-period goals. Isabel Bianchi scored the final goal, assisted by her sister Luci Bianchi.
Eryn Cooley and Kalli Engen combined to stop 18 of 19 shots in net.
The Toms play two with St. Ben's, next Friday at home and Saturday in St. Cloud.
