St. Thomas closed out a 4-0 sweep at the Augsburg tournament with Saturday's 3-1 victory over No. 12-ranked UW-Whitewater. Earlier in the day, the Toms topped Dubuque, 3-0. The Whitewater victory included a 26-24 win in the third set, and the Dubuque victory included a 29-27 Tommie win in the second set.

This marks St. Thomas' best start to a season since the 2011 team opened 9-0.

Sophomore setter Grace Anetipa and sophomore hitter Fran Egan were named to the 10-player all-tournament team in the eight-team event. The Purple and host Augsburg each finished 4-0.

In the Dubuque win, Anetipa had 41 assists and nine digs; Egan and Hannah Braun had 13 kills apiece; and Madie Kroehler had 11 digs and 11 kills.

In the Whitewater victory, Anetipa had 50 assists and 11 digs; Kroehler had 20 kills and 16 assists; Ellie Meyer had 31 digs; Egan had 13 kills; and Braun had 12 kills.

Coach Thanh Pham's Toms (8-0) are making a bid to return to the Division III top-25 poll. They were near the top of the list of teams receiving votes just out of the top 25 this week.

St. Thomas plays four matches next weekend at the UW-Eau Claire tourney.
