Chase Shortly went 6-for-7 with seven RBI to lead No. 7-ranked St. Thomas Softball to a pair of five-inning wins Saturday evening at the Rochester (Minn.) Dome.
The Toms pounded 21 hits as they topped Buena Vista (Iowa), 16-4, then beat 2018 NCAA playoff qualifier UW-Oshkosh, 9-1.
Four Tommie pitchers allowed two earned runs over 10 innings. Junior Kierstin Anderson-Glass allowed one run in four innings to top Oshkosh.
Elise Barnes had five hits and scored six runs. Melissa Barry had four hits and four RBI.
The Toms are scheduled to play Grinnell on Sunday afternoon back in Rochester. A second foe, Wartburg, has elected not to travel Sunday due to the poor weather in Northern Iowa and southeast Minnesota.
