Two Sunday wins aid Men's S&D's MIAC runner-up finish

Sophomores Nate Stone and Adam Boerner recorded Sunday night wins to help Tommie Men's Swim-Dive roll up 774.5 points over four days in a runner-up conference team finish at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Gustavus had a terrific meet and compiled 938.5 points to end St. Thomas' four-year reign as team champion.
Coach Scott Blanchard's Tommies had those two firsts and 10 second-place finishes among 24 top-five placings in this week's 20-event competition. Ten of the Tommies' top contributors are freshmen and sophomores.
Boerner won the 1650 free in 16:10.93, with freshman Nate Ruegemer and sophomore Sam Johnson taking fifth and sixth.
Senior Tom Negaard took second in the 100 free (46.03), with freshman Garrett Riley, junior Omar Omar and Michael Foss placing 8-10-11.
The 400 free relay placed second (3:07.92) with Omar, Larson, Negaard and Riley.
Freshman John Gahnz finished second in the 200 back (1:51.71) with freshman CJ Hansen eighth.
Freshman Logan Shafer took second in the 200 breaststroke (2a:04.82), with Bryce Hoppe sixth.
In the 200 fly, after Stone's win Max Larson was sixth and Lucas Manke took ninth.
St. Thomas took second in four relays and third in the other.
