Rachel responds, Women's Hockey goes on to 3-1 win

Senior Rachel Werdin scored her 40th career goal with 10:11 to play to snap a 1-1 tie and send No. 10-ranked St. Thomas Women's Hockey to a 3-1 victory over visiting Concordia-Moorhead in MIAC play Friday night in Mendota Heights.
The teams play again Saturday in Mendota Heights (2 p.m.).
Eryn Cooley stopped 20 of 21 shots and helped kill off three Cobber power plays.
The Tommies (6-2-3 overall, 5-0 MIAC) have allowed just 12 goals in regulation time in 11 games this season. Their last six goals have come from six different players.
Freshman Alli Monrean scored late in period two, assisted by Werdin and Emma Larson, to give the Purple a 1-0 lead.
Concordia tied it with 11:26 to play on a goal by Meghan Rethemeier. But Werdin answered with a go-ahead score 75 seconds later. assisted by Chloe McEnelly.
Freshman Luci Bianchi scored her first collegiate goal via empty net with 70 seconds remaining, assisted by Alyssa Wallace, to give the Toms the two-goal cushion.
