No. 19-ranked UW-Whitewater outscored No. 17-ranked St. Thomas 19-6 at the foul line Monday in its 75-69 non-conference women's basketball victory over the Tommies in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

The Warhawks (10-1) receved 21 points from Becky Raeder, and 16 points and 12 boards from Johanna Taylor. They also had a 36-31 rebounding advantage.

St. Thomas sophomore Amber Darge sank five of her team's 11 baskets from 3-point range and closed with 17 points. The Tommies (7-3) shot 51 percent from the floor and made 11-of-22 from behind the arc.

Darge's trey with 23 seconds remaining cut the Whitewater lead to 69-67. Madi Schirmer's basket with seven seconds to go made it 71-69, but the Warhawks made four free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Schirmer closed with 15 points, Brynne Rolland added 12 points and nine rebounds, and Macy Hatlestad scored 11 points.

The Purple resume conference play next Saturday at Concordia-Moorhead.
