Fourth-quarter surge saves Women's Hoops

11/26/2019 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball

Sophomore guard Amber Darge scored 19 points and No. 6-ranked Tommie Women's Basketball used a 21-0 fourth-quarter run to pull away to a 63-45 road win at Carleton in MIAC play in Northfield.

St. Thomas (5-0 overall, 2-0 MIAC) has won 76 consecutive games against MIAC opponents, the second longest such current conference win streak in all levels and both genders of college hoops behind only the Connecticut Huskies.

But that streak was tested for much of Tuesday's contest. The Tommies trailed 30-29 at halftime and were still behind 39-38 early in the fourth quarter before Macy Hatlestad's two 3-point baskets highlighted a 21-0 run.

Hatlestad finished with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Shayla Wallin had 10 points and five boards. The Toms posted a 28-22 rebounding edge, and outscored the Knights 30-9 from 3-point range.

St. Thomas plays Dec. 4 at Macalester.
