St. Thomas Men's Soccer shook off an early deficit and stormed to a 3-1 home win over first-place St. John's on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at South Field.
The conference standings started the day with three unbeatens -- including 3-0 St. John's -- plus three one-loss teams.
Coach Jon Lowery's Tommies (4-3-3 overall, 3-1 MIAC), who ran their win streak to three, scored a pair of goals from Jonathan Acevedo and Jake Amey 2:09 apart late in the first half, then got an insurance score from Jack Barry midway through the second half.
After playing six overtime games in a seven-game stretch, the Toms have won two in a row by a combined 9-2 margin.
St. Thomas moves into a tie for second place in the MIAC.
