Rally carries Women's Soccer to championship

Ellie Eskierka scored the go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute and assisted on an insurance goal moments later to lead No. 18-ranked Tommie Women's Soccer to Saturday's 3-1 victory over Augsburg in the championship game of the MIAC Playoffs at UST's South Field.
This was the first playoff crown for St. Thomas (18-2), which took second place twice in the last three seasons. UST swept the conference regular-season and playoff titles, and today's win set a program record for victories in a season at 18.
The Toms are in the NCAA playoffs for the third consecutive season. They will learn their playoff fate Monday but as the region's top seed will look to play host to games next weekend.
Kristen Epperly scored the tying goal in the 65th minute as she converted in the box with a pass from the right side. UST took the lead in the 82nd minute as Eskierka cleaned up a scrum in the box and scored her third goal of the season and second of the playoffs.
Mallory DeBoom added an insurance goal in the 87th minute on a breakaway as she took a feed from Eskierka and beat one defender and the keeper. DeBoom has 110 career points and moved into second on the school's all-time scoring list.
Olivia Elvidge had five saves for UST. Ashley St. Aubin scored her 21st goal for Augsburg midway through the first half and was a handful all game for the Tommie defense.
