Women's Soccer rains supreme, streak hits 12

10/9/2018 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer

Steady rain and an early deficit didn't deter No. 16-ranked St. Thomas Women's Soccer on Tuesday at home in non-conference play against UW-Eau Claire. The Toms scored the game's last four goals in a 4-1 victory.

Coach Sheila McGill's team (12-1) has won 12 in a row, unbeaten in September and October, with a 38-4 scoring margin in that span.

Mallory DeBoom's goal in the 13th minute -- the 36th of her career -- tied the game at 1-1. Kaley Roberts scored the go-ahead goal moments later. Megan Zickert scored two goals in a 6:08 span of the second half to help UST pull away.

The Tommies had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks and a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. Liz Luotto tallied two assists, and Paige Cater and Roberts had one each.

St. Thomas, the MIAC leader at 6-0, is home Saturday to face St. Catherine.
