No. 13-ranked St. Thomas Women's Soccer had a 14-game win streak halted with Saturday's 1-0 loss at St. Olaf, on a goal in the 77th minute.
The Toms couldn't convert in the first half with a stiff wind at their back in a 0-0 score. They tried to operate into that wind in the second half and were unable to control a variety of their shots.
"We dominated the run of play," said UST coach Sheila McGill. "We had plenty of chances to finish, but didn't. There was a 20-mile an hour win against us in the second half, and the wind took most of our shots wide. St. Olaf had a free kick and they scored."
The first-place Toms (14-2 overall, 8-1 MIAC) have two games to play in the regular season and has a two-point lead atop the MIAC. St. Olaf remained in the title race at 7-2-1 with one game to play.
Both goalies had four saves. UST had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks but was unable to convert.
St. Thomas plays two more ttitle hopefuls this week to cloe te regular season -- Wednesday night at Augsburg, and at home Oct. 30 to face Bethel.
