Volleyball stays hot, cruises past Carleton

Sophomore Madie Kroehler hit .400 and had her sixth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 14 digs to lead No. 21-ranked St. Thomas Volleyball to a 3-0 win over Carleton in MIAC play Friday night at Schoenecker Arena.
The Tommies won 25-11, 25-15, 25-10 to move alone -- at least for the day -- atop the MIAC. Gustavus lost 3-2 at Bethel to fall to 2-1. St. Olaf (2-0) plays a conference match on Saturday.
The Toms hit .290 on the match and made it 13 wins in their last 14 contests. St. Thomas has won its last 24 matches over three seasons when it hits .240 or better.
For St. Thomas (13-2 overall, 3-0 MIAC), 17 players saw action. Whitney Lloyd had eight kills and hit .500; Katharine Mallak had 15 assists; Ellie Meyer added 15 digs; Brooke Reichart had six kills; and Hannah Schwartz chipped in 13 assists.
The Knights (3-7, 0-2) were led by Katie Tritschler's 13 digs, Lucy Stevens' three blocks, and Faith Skinner's six kills.
St. Thomas plays next Wednesday night at St. Olaf (7 p.m.).
