Men's soccer collects 1-0 win over Gustavus

Paul Gwidt scored his first collegiate goal in the 39th minute with an assist from Pierce Erickson to put St. Thomas up 1-0 against Gustavus. The Toms remained strong defensively and held off the Gusties to secure the home win. St. Thomas moves to 7-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in MIAC play.
Grant Larson made three saves in the shutout and improved to 4-0-1 on the season. His counterpart, Matt Bateman, also made three saves took the loss.
St. Thomas had the slight advantage in shots on goal with four compared to three for Gustavus while the Gusties had nine total shots with the Tommies collecting seven.
The Toms continued to be strong on defense and have allowed just four goals in nine games this season.
St. Thomas travels to Moorhead on Tuesday to take on Concordia in another conference match with a 4 p.m. start.
