Friday wrap: Hoops teams win, MH ties

Junior Ryan Boll (25 points), junior Michael Hannon (24) and sophomore Connor Bair (15) each had career-high scoring nights to lead No. 10-ranked Tommie Men's Basketball to an 80-72 win over Pacific Lutheran in non-conference play Friday in Tacoma, Wash.
The Tommies (1-1) shot 52 percent from the floor, made 16-of-19 at the line and only had eight turnovers. Hannon sank five treys and Boll added 10 rebounds. Grant Shaeffer had seven assists.
UST had a 39-2 advantage in bench points.
UST plays Saturday night against host Puget Sound.
Women's Hoops
Senior All-America center Kaitlin Langer had a career-best 32 points and added 13 rebounds to lead No. 6-ranked Tommie Women's Basketball to a 77-43 win over Juniata (Pa.) in a non-conference game Friday at the McDaniel (Md.) tournament.
The Toms (1-0) raced to a 24-8 lead after the first quarter. Eleven different players scored for Coach Ruth Sinn's team.
The Toms play Saturday afternoon against McDaniel for the weekend tourney championship.
Women's Hockey
Bethel scored a go-ahead goal early in the third period and added an empty-net tally for a 3-1 road win over Tommie Women's Hockey Friday night in Mendota Heights.
Kathryn Larson scored in the second period to tie the score for St. Thomas (1-4-1 overall, 1-1-1 MIAC).
The teams play again Saturday in Blaine.
Men's Hockey
Bethel scored an extra-attacker goal with 30 seconds to go to tie St. Thomas 1-1 in MIAC men's hockey in Blaine. After a scoreless 5:00 overtime, the Royals won the shootout 2-1 to take two points on the game.
Michael Dockry broke a 0-0 tie with a short-handed goal with just under 8:00 left in regulation. Benjamin Myers had 32 saves over 65 minutes.
St. Thomas (3-2-2 overall, 2-0-1 MIAC) hosts Bethel Saturday night at Saint Thomas Ice Arena.
