Volleyball gets sixth MIAC victory

St. Thomas Volleyball moved closer to securing a conference playoff berth as it scored a 3-0 road win Friday night at St. Olaf. The Tommies won 25-19, 25-20, 26-24.

Sophomore Katharine Mallak recorded 32 assists and surpassed 1,000 on her two-year career at St. Thomas.

Brooke Reichart led the Tommies in kills (10), and Ellie Meyer led the team in digs (16) and aces (three).

St. Thomas (18-7 overall, 6-2 MIAC) has three matches left in the conference regular season starting with Saturday's match at Bethel (3 p.m.). Gustavus (8-1 MIAC) won in five sets Friday against Concordia to keep a one-game lead on the Tommies for second place behon 9-0 Augsburg.

UST closes the regulr season with matches against Concordia on Wednesday and at Macalester on Oct. 29.
