Volleyball hits well, tops SCU in four

Whitney Lloyd hit .375 with 18 kills and five blocks to lead the visiting Tommies to Wednesday night's 3-1 volleyball win at St. Catherine. The Toms prevaild 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 25-13.
St. Thomas (6-6 overall, 1-1 MIAC) hit .278 on the night. In the pivotal third set, the score was tied 19-19 but UST reeled off six consecutive points to close out the game and take a 2-1 lead.
Jennifer Wild had seven aces and 18 digs; Taylor Lewis had 12 kills and 19 digs; Katherine Mallak had 24 assists and 10 digs; and Brooke Reichart had 10 kills.
St. Thomas is home Friday to face Northwestern-St. Paul (7 p.m.) and home Saturday to play St. Mary's (3 p.m.).
