Women's Tennis soars to playoff finals

Tommie women's tennis advanced to the finals of the MIAC playoffs with Friday's 5-1 victory over Carleton. The match was played indoors at the Lakeville Lifetime Fitness Center.
St. Thomas (17-2) won two of three doubles matches and pulled out two third-set tie breakers to close out the match with the fifth point. Bridget Noack ended the match, winning a three setter of her own. Noack and freshman Jenna Zimmerman won in singles and doubles, and Paige Becher ralllied to victory at No. 6 singles. Kara Lefsrud and Caitlin Bakke also contributed to doubles wins.
Carleton (14-4) won at No. 2 doubles and had several good singles battles going when UST closed out the victory.
UST will travel on to St. Peter to face the top-seed Gustavus on Sunday afternoon.
