St. Thomas women's tennis lost two third-set tie-breakers and two other tight matches and fell 6-3 to Gustavus Saturday at the St. Paul Academy courts.

UST will finish in second place in the conference regular-season standings. The Tommies (16-2 overall, 9-1 MIAC) will play host to third-seed Carleton in the conference playoff semifinals next Friday at 4:30 at the SPA courts.

Kara Lefsrud won in both singles and doubles, joining Bridget Noack at first doubles. Caitlin Bakke had a hard-fought win at third singles.
