2/28/2015 12:00:00 AM | Women's Hockey
Tara Baago and Hannah Bird scored the go-ahead and eventual winning goals as second-seed St. Thomas held off third-seed Concordia-Moorhead, 3-2, in Saturday's MIAC women's hockey playoff semifinal game in Mendota Heights.
Top-seeded Gustavus lost 6-3 at home to fourth-seed Bethel, thus the Tommies (13-9-4) and Royals (15-9-3) will meet in the championship game Saturday March 7 at 2 p.m. on UST's ice in Mendota Heights. The winner will advance into the NCAA Playoffs.
Taylor Neisen stopped 34 of 36 shots for UST, which never trailed. Tori Bailey scored a power-play goal in the first.
St. Thomas is 17-4-2 on home ice the last two seasons.
