Women's Soccer blanked 4-0 by Pacific Lutheran

The St. Thomas women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss at the hands of Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon in Parkland, Wash.
With Sunday's result, the Tommies drop to 1-3-0 on the year, while Pacific Lutheran improves to 2-1-1.
A pair of goals midway through the first half gave the Lutes a 2-0 lead heading into the break. Kaylie Rozell delivered both goals for the home team, the first of which came in the 27th minute on a drive from 18 yards out.
Rozell's second goal came nine minutes later, in the 36th minute. A free kick was deflected around before Rozell finished it off to put her team on top 2-0.
Pacific Lutheran recorded a 10-4 advantage in shots headed to halftime. Of those 10 shots, five were on net, three of which were saved by UST goalkeeper Tarynn Theilig.
The Lutes added two more scores in the second half. In the 49th minute, a St. Thomas own goal pushed the score to 3-0.
Later, Lauren Larson scored her third goal of the season off a cross from Jamie Hoffman in the 74th. The goal gave Pacific Lutheran a 4-0 lead and was the final security goal for the Lutes in the shutout win.
PLU ended the game with a shot advantage of 15-6 and a favorable 6-1 difference in shots on goal.
The Tommies will now have an idle week before opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play on Tuesday, Sept. 16th. UST will make the short trip to Macalester for a 7:30 p.m., night cap.
