W. Basketball gets key road victory

Taylor Young had 19 points and the Tommie women knocked down 22-of-25 free throws in Wednesday night's 72-63 MIAC basketball win at Bethel.

No. 16-ranked UST (18-3 overall, 15-2 MIAC) had five players score in double figures as it secured a spot in the six-team conference playoffs.

Kelly Brandenburg had eight of her 10 points in the second half. Maggie Weiers added 10 points and eight rebounds, Katie Stone had 11 points and, Elaine Warner had 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The Tommies remain one game behind first-place St. Mary's heading into their game Saturday at UST's Schoenecker Arena.
