Weiers nets 20, W. Basketball rolls

Junior center Maggie Weiers had 20 points and seven rebounds as No. 16-ranked St. Thomas (19-3 overall, 17-2 MIAC) remained in a share of the conference women's basketball lead and ran its win streak to eight with Wednesday night's 61-47 home win over the Oles (13-9, 11-8).
Kim Cerjan had 16 points and seven boards for St. Olaf.
The Toms used a 16-1 run to build a 27-8 lead with 6:30 left in the first half. They led 38-20 at halftime and the Oles never got closer than 14 points thereafter.
Weiers went over 900 career points. UST's Katie Stone scored 13 points and Hannah Hughes chipped in 10. Taylor Young added seven points and eight rebounds.
The Tommies improved to 9-1 at home this season and held an opponent under 55 points for the 15th time in 22 games.
The Toms and St. Mary's both won and share the conference lead at 17-2 with three games to play, one game ahead of Concordia-Moorhead (16-3). UST is at Concordia on Saturday.
