FT shooting helps M. Hoops record win

Zach Riedeman scored a season-high 24 points and Conner Nord added 11 points and 10 rebounds as No. 15-ranked St. Thomas held off host Carleton, 65-59, in Saturday's MIAC men's basketball play in Northfield.
The first-place Tommies (15-3 overall, 12-1 MIAC) kept a one-half game lead over St. Olaf atop the conference standings.
The Knights (7-11, 5-8) got 19 poimnts and 11 rebounds from Taylor Hanson. They pulled within four points in the closing four minutes but the Tommies knocked down 12-of-12 free throws in the last 3:28.
Tommie senior Erik Tengwall made 10-of-10 at the line on the game and finished with 14 points.
UST converted 24-of-27 at the line and had just six turnovers to offset a 37-24 rebounding deficit and a 37-percent shooting day.
St. Thomas is on the road again Monday night to face Hamline.
