After a slow start, three seniors fueled a happy ending for Tommie Volleyball in Wednesday night's home match against St. Ben's.
Jill Greenfield, Kelly Foley and Sara Atkinson combined for 37 of UST's 57 kills and hit .345 to lead No. 12-ranked St. Thomas to a 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 win over the No. 21-ranked Blazers.
The Tommies (15-4 overall, 5-0 MIAC) have won 11 matches in a row and remain the lone unbeaten in conference play. They extended their win streak over MIAC opponents to 13.
St. Ben's (12-7, 4-2) hustled to a game one victory by hitting .302 in the opening set and making several clutch plays late. But the Blazers hit just .120 the rest of the match and were hurt by seven service errors.
St. Thomas hit .186 in the opening set but improved to .300 the rest of the match to close with a .268 attack percentage.
