VB holds off Knights, gets playoff bye

No. 9-ranked Tommie Volleyball fended off a Carleton upset bid Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory in Northfield.
The Tommies won 25-22, 25-22, 25-22 and locked up a top-two seed and first-round bye for the six-team MIAC playoffs.
Jill Greenfield hit .359, had 17 kills, 15 digs, four blocks and two aces to lead UST (21-6 overall, 9-1 MIAC). Sara Atkinson had nine kills and hit .300; Kelly Foley had seven kills and three blocks; Maddie Reese had 25 assists and seven digs; Taylor Lewis had 16 digs; and Whitney Abrahamson had 14 digs.
The Toms close the regular season Saturday at Bethel (3 p.m.). A victory lets UST secure at least a share of the conference title.
