Freshman Kendra Bowe threw 10 shutout innings and struck out 15 to record two pitching wins and No. 25-ranked St. Thomas ran its conference winning streak to 50 with an 8-2, 8-0 sweep of host St. Olaf in MIAC play Thursday in Northfield.
The Tommies (21-5 overall, 8-0 MIAC) have won 10 in a row this season, and have swept 22 consecutive MIAC doubleheaders since April 2010.
The Oles (11-13, 3-3) trailed just 3-2 through five innings in game one but the Toms added five runs in their last two at-bats to pull away. Bowe came on in the third inning and threw five scoreless and hitless innings. She walked two and struck out nine.
In game two, Bowe threw the first five innings and allowed no runs, three hits and one walk with six Ks.
Emily Gregory drove in four runs on the day for St. Thomas, which had 21 hits from 13 different players. Jenna Hoffman had three hits and a walk and in four games this week went 8-for-11 with four walks.
The Tommies are home next Wednesday to face St. Mary's.
