Hoffman, Dunrud spark Softball sweep of Royals

Jenna Hoffman went 5-for-5 and reached base in all eight plate appearances on the day to lead Tommie softball's 9-4, 7-1 sweep of Bethel Tuesday in Arden Hills.
The No. 25-ranked Tommies (19-5 overall, 6-0 MIAC) remained atop the conference standings and pushed their win streak to 48 in a row vs. MIAC opponents.
On the day, Coach John Tschida received 27 hits from 11 different hitters.
Hoffman went 5-for-5 with three walks on the doubleheader, including two run-scoring hits during a seven-run second inning when UST sent 12 batters to the plate.
Alyssa Dunrud went 5-for-9 with three runs and three RBI in the two games.
Kendra Bowe struck out eight and allowed one run, one walk and six hits to get the game-two win. Kristin Bigelbach had two hits and pitched into the sixth inning for the game-one victory.
The Tommies play St. Olaf on Thursday afternoon in Northfield. The Oles (11-11) knocked St. Ben's from the MIAC unbeatens with a 3-1, 2-0 sweep on Tuesday.
