St. Thomas softball got 22 hits from 15 different players on the day in Monday's 7-0, 11-0 doubleheader sweep of St. Catherine at UST's South Field.
The 18th-ranked Tommies (30-6 overall, 17-1 MIAC) stayed in a share of the conference lead with Gustavus, which topped St. Ben's 3-1 and 5-0 on Monday. St. Thomas also reached 30 wins for the 13th consecutive season and extended their on-campus win streak to 27.
Three Tommie pitchers held the Wildcats to five hits and no runs over 12 innings. St. Thomas pitchers have not allowed a run in their last 27 innings. Freshman Treya Connell allowed one hit in four scoreless innings to get the game-one victory. Christy Gries pitched the last three innings to get the win in game two.
Tisa Phinney hit a two-run homer in the first inning of game two.
UST plays Wednesday at Macalester in a 4:30 p.m. twinbill.
