Riedel gets another shutout, W.Hockey rolls 3-0

Sophomore Alise Riedel stopped 42 shots and recorded her second consecutive shutout as the visiting
Tommies stayed hot with Friday's 3-0 win at Bethel in MIAC women's hockey play in Blaine.
Two goals in the game's first 5:00 by Jenny Saxon and Jamie Tiede and an empty-net tally by Meghan Parker provided the Tommie offense. Parker also had one assist and Taylor Schluter tallied two assists.
St. Thomas (9-6-2 overall, 6-4-1 MIAC) is 7-1 since the holiday break and has moved from ninth to second place in the MIAC race. The Toms are now tied with Concordia, which fell 4-3 to St. Catherine.
Riedel, who has six career shutouts, lowered her season goals-against average to 1.55 and improved her save percentage to .944.

UST has allowed just eight goals in its last 10 games.
Bethel and UST play Saturday at 7 p.m. in Mendota Heights.
