Tough OT loss for Men's Soccer to end streak
10/20/2012 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Gustavus scored the game's only goal by Zach Brown in the second overtime and secured a 1-0 victory over No. 24-ranked St. Thomas in Saturday's MIAC men's soccer game in St. Peter.
The Gusties (12-2-1 overall, 7-1-1 MIAC) take sole possession of the conference lead over the Tommies (10-3-3, 6-1-1). UST had a seven-game unbeaten streak halted.
Mitchell Wolff had nine saves for the Tommies in 104 minutes in goal.
"It was an even game despite our inability to create a lot of chances in the attack," said UST coach Jon Lowery. "Having said that, we created two golden chances and needed to convert in those moments. Defensively we were sound, but full credit to Gustavus for finding a goal in overtime. We will fix a few things and look forward to the challenge at Carleton on Tuesday. I fully expect a more complete performance including the coverage of all details then."
UST plays Tuesday at Carleton.
