Robby Philipp's power-play goal four minutes into the final period snapped a 1-1 tie and powered the visiting Tommie men's hockey team (6-2-1) to a 3-1 victory over No. 4-ranked Adrian (Mich.) in Sunday's consolation game of the Adrian Thanksgiving Showcase tourney.
Chris Cass scored the game's first goal, and Alex Altenbernd added an empty-net goal in the final seconds for St. Thomas. Geoff Sadjadi had his first start of the season in the pipes and stopped 26 of 27 shots.
UST has won its last 10 games when Philipp has scored a goal.
St. Thomas is 16-3-1 so far in the Jeff Boeser head coaching era when it scores three or more goals.
The Tommies play next Friday and Saturday at Concordia-Moorhead.
