Women's Hoops tops Cards, now 5-0 in MIAC

Ali Johnson had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the Tommie women's basketball team to a 69-55 win at St. Mary's Monday night in Winona.
St. Thomas (6-2 overall, 5-0 MIAC) has won five in a row and survived the long layoff as it played its first game in 25 days. Sarah Smith had 14 points, Rachel Booth had 11 points and five rebounds, and freshman Maggie Weiers had 10 points.
UST kept pace with 5-0 Concordia and 5-1 St. Ben's atop the MIAC stamdings. The Toms have won nine consecutive games against conference opponents dating back to last season, including seven on the road.
The Toms raced to a 14-4 lead and led by 21 at halftime.SMU never got closer than 14 in the second half. UST's pressure helped hold the Carrdinals to 35% shooting from the floor.
St. Thomas plays Wednesday night at Carleton.
