Women's Hoops' comeback falls short at St. Ben's

The Tommie women's basketball team rallied from 17 points down but fell short in Saturday's 62-58 loss to first-place and No. 20-ranked St. Ben's in MIAC women's basketball in St. Joseph.
The Tommies (11-4 overall, 10-2 MIAC) used a 19-5 run to pull within 60-58. After a time out, UST missed three shots that would have tied the game. The Blazers (15-1, 12-1) sank two late free throws to secure the victory.
Amy Stifter had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Blazers, who had only eight turnovers.
Rachel Booth and Jazmin Townsend each scored 12 points and Ali Johnson had 10. Sarah Smith had seven points and nine rebounds.
UST is now 1 1-2 games behind St. Ben's in the MIAC race. The Toms are home Monday to face Concordia-Moorhead (6:30 p.m. start).
