Volleyball gets 3-0 win over No. 24-ranked SMU

Freshman Mackenzie Piechowski had nine kills and eight blocks to lead No. 15-ranked St. Thomas to a 3-0 win over No. 24-rated St. Mary's in Wednesday night's MIAC volleyball match in Winona. The Tommies won 25-13, 25-23, 25-13.
The Tommies (10-3 overall, 1-1 MIAC) hit .245 on the match and had seven aces. The Cardinals (8-3) had won eight of their previous nine matches.
UST's Katie Bonine had 10 kills, Kaitlain Wachter had 18 digs, and Emily Foster had 31 assists, six digs and four blocks.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at Bethel (3 p.m.).
