Volleyball closes out 4-0 weekend at Luther Invite

The 14th-ranked St. Thomas volleyball team capped a 4-0 weekend at the Luther Invitational with a pair of Saturday victories.
Coach Thanh Pham's team (9-3) topped Bluffton, 25-9, 25-20, 27-25, and beat Northland, 25-11, 27-25, 25-13.
UST and Viterbo each went 4-0 in the eight-team tournament. Nebraska Wesleyan finished 3-1 with a loss to the Tommies.
St. Thomas resumes conference play Wednesday night when it visits Winona to face St. Mary's.

Friday story
The St. Thomas volleyball team went 2-0 on the day as it scored four-set wins over Nebraska Wesleyan and Simpson in Friday's play at the Luther Invitational.
The Tommies (7-3) beat NWU, 25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23, and topped Simpson, 25-17, 24-26, 25-14, 25-22.
In the first match, Katie Bonine had 17 kills and 15 digs; Emily Foster had 40 assists and 15 digs; Tori Jones had eight kills, two aces and five blocks; and Kaitlain Wachter had 33 digs.
In the Simpson match, Bonine had 11 kills and 15 digs; Jones had 10 kills; Mackenzie Piechowski had eight kills and three blocks; and Wachter had 20 digs and four aces.
On Saturday the Tommies face Bluffton and Northland.
