Softball rips 27 hits in home sweep of Augsburg

Marta Radcliffe allowed just one earned run in nine innings on the day and St. Thomas slugged 27 hits en route to Thursday's home softball sweep of Augsburg on the UST campus. UST won 8-3 and 8-5.
The Tommies (17-5 overall, 4-0 MIAC) have won 15 of their last 16 games.
Radcliffe and Kayla Boward each went 4-for-5 while Sydney Marquardt, Alison Wright and Kimmy Hassel each had three hits on the day.
St. Thomas broke to leads of 8-1 in the opener and 6-0 in game two. Radcliffe pitched fiive innings in game one and allowed just one run (a solo home run), one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts. She helped her cause with a solo homer that tied the game 1-1 in the third inning.
Augsburg (14-10, 4-2) had a nine-game winning streak halted. Brittany Bruzek hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning of game two and has three homers in her last four games. Allyson Ruedy went 3-for-4 on the day.
St. Thomas plays Saturday at Concordia-Moorhead and returns home for douibleheaders on Tuesday vs. St. Mary's and Wednesday vs. Hamline.
