Men's Hockey comes alive, wins in OT
12/4/2010 12:00:00 AM | Men's Hockey
Phil Johnson's goal with 58 seconds left in regulation tied the game, and Travis Baker's power-play goal 2:11 into overtime won for the host Tommies (7-4 overall, 4-2 MIAC) over No. 6-ranked Gustavus (7-3-1, 3-2-1) in MIAC men's hockey Saturday night in Mendota Heights.
Tyrone Simcoe stopped 21 of 22 shots in his first start of the season.
Gustavus took just two penalties over the first 60 minutes but was whistled for a trip in the first 30 seconds of overtime. Baker was able to convert the game-winning goal on a flurry in front of the net.
UST had lost eight of its last nine games against Gustavus since January 2008.
The Toms play two games next weekend at Milwaukee School of Engineering.
