9/19/2009 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Junior Elliot Amundson scored the game-winning goal in the second sudden-death overtime as the visiting Tommies (4-3-0, 1-0 MIAC) handed No. 14-ranked Augsburg its first loss of the season, 1-0, in Saturday night's men's soccer game in Minneapolis.
The Tommies have won two overtime games in the last 11 days. They ran their unbeaten streak against the Auggies to 21 matches.
The Auggies (5-1-1, 1-1) are 0-19-2 against St. Thomas since a 1988 victory, although the last four meetings have been extremely close.
Amundson (shown at right) took a pass from Angel Riera and scored from the right side -- his second goal of the season. Carlos Castelan had four saves in the win.
The Tommies play Wednesday at St. Scholastica and resume MIAC competition next Saturday at Bethel.
