Softball gets 36 hits in Wed. sweep of Wildcats

Alison Wright went 6-for-7 and Morgan Betker and Steph Moores each had five hits on the day to lead No. 8-ranked St. Thomas to a 13-0 and 9-1 softball sweep of host St. Catherine in Wednesday's MIAC play. Game one went five innings, and game two went six innings.
The Tommies (34-4 overall, 18-2 MIAC) locked up a top-two seed for the four-team May 1-3 MIAC playoffs. They outhit the Wildcats 33-6 on the day.
Betker had a grand slam in game two and finished with eight RBI along with a 5-for-7 hitting line on the afternoon. Moores went 5-for-8 with four RBI.
Marta Radcliffe allowed one run, three hits and two walks in a complete-game win in game two. Radcliffe, Angela Phillips and Biz Sitzman combined on a three-hit shutout in the opener.
The Tommies close the regular season Saturday at hone against St. Mary's (1 p.m.).
