Junior Alison Wright went 5-for-7 on the day with seven RBI to lead No. 8-ranked St. Thomas (36-4 overall, 20-2 MIAC) to Saturday's 7-0, 8-0 softball sweep of St. Mary's (18-18, 10-12) at UST's South Field.
The Tommies have now won 20 or more conference regular-season games for the 10th year in a row. However the Toms finished second in the MIAC race as Gustavus swept St. Catherine to finish 21-1 in the league, one game ahead of St. Thomas.
Kaitlyn Wightman and Sarah Peters had solo home runs in game one. Wright hit a three-run homer -- the 21st of her career -- in game two.
In her last five games, Wright is 13-for-18 with eight runs and nine RBI to raise her season average to .515, with 24 multi-hit games.
Marta Radcliffe allowed three hits in six shutout innings in game one. Christy Gries allowed one hit and one walk in four shutout innings in game two.
Missy Bruggeman had four hits and Steph Moores and Morgan Betker each had three hits for UST.
Bruggeman (.525) and Wright (.515) now rank 1-2 in conference all-game batting average.
The Tommies will face third-seed Hamline in Friday's first-round game at the double-elimination MIAC playoffs in Winona.
